It has now been arrangea, subject to the
approval of the Chairman, that there shall be a
preliminary talk in the Advisory Committe on July
23rd regarding the position of Hong Kong University
with reference to the general question of cultural
relations with nina. 1 nave just had a very long
talk with Mr. Forster, Professor of Education in
Hong Kong University, who has interesting views and
a good deal of information not only regarding the
University, but also regarding the present position
of education in China, which he has had some oppor-
tunity of studying during tours in that country.
I attach an article of his on the subject, which he
is at present trying to get taken by some English
journal. I suggest that it would be useful to get
him to come to the meeting on the 23rd July, and,
if you have no objection, I shall be obliged if you
can send this on to Mr. Poynton in order that he
